Lendrum Place houses are directly acroos from the Alberta School for the Deaf. Residential real estate here is mostly bungalow-style houses with detached oversized garages, large lots, and back-alley access. The majority of building construction in Lendrum Place occurred during the sixties with a few character houses built near the end of the Second World War. Nearby amenities include Southgate Centre, the Petroleum strip, and the South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park and Southgate LRT stations. Lendrum Place is named for Robert Lendrum, an early city land surveyor.
Lendrum place is one of the most desirable neighbourhoods to live near Southgate. It is bounded by 111th Street south of 51st Avenue. This central southwest neighbourhood is built along the lines of a modified grid street pattern, which was fairly common during the construction boom in 1960s and 1970s. Because Lendrum place was a planned community, just two types of homes exist here. Single detached houses which account for some 77% of all dwellings and is home to a majority of owner-occupiers. There are two schools here – Lendrum School and Avalon Junior High School.
