Aldergrove homes for sale and real estate listings are within walking distance to West Edmonton Mall, west of Thorncliffe. It is likely named for the local alder trees, most common species in Canada. During the 1970s and 1980s, Aldergrove followed a growth strategy common during that time, when other nearby neighbourhoods were planned and designed to make more efficient use of land by allowing for more condominiums and smaller lots for houses. This strategy in Aldergrove was used in order to preserve agricultural land, conserve energy and to provide for more efficient delivery of services.
