Originally, this part of central southwest Edmonton was at the heart of our municipality near the University of Alberta. Most of the houses for sale in Strathcona will be constructed during the 1970s and 1980s. A large portion of these dwellings face the river valley along Saskatchewan Drive. It takes its name from the town of Strathcona which existed here and in surrounding neighbourhoods before it was amalgamated with Edmonton in 1912. The Mill Creek Ravine forms part of the Strathcona boundary to the east and is steps away from favorite cafes and the night life on Whyte Avenue. Houses in Strathcona are overwhelmingly occupied by renters – about 70% of homes.
