Garneau real estate is situated south of Waterdale Hill and Saskatchewan Drive next to the University of Alberta, a few minutes to the downtown core. Homes for sale in Garneau offers a vast mix of properties from great commercial buildings with nearby amenities to a few war-time character houses for the early 1900s to mature 1960s duplexes to brand new infill properties. The Garneau condo complex dates back to 1948 and William off Whyte condo was just recently built. Purchasing any real estate in this part of southwest Edmonton is a great investment for both rental income and small businesses.

In 1912, Garneau was orinially part of the Strathcona City and is one of the oldest neighbourhoods. Garneau has numerous high-rise and low-rise condominium buildings with only a few sigle family houses. Interestingly, there are still several French inspired old Garneau houses that can be found in the community, which is to be expected because of the Metis history in the area. The neighbourhood was named after Laurent Garneau, who was noted not just for his Metis descent but also for his active participation in local politics.
