Mill Creek Communities

The Mill Creek area is located in the central portion of south Edmonton near the University of Alberta and Saskatchewan Drive and Waterdale Hill, bordered by Whyte Avenue Calgary Trail and Argyll Road. In the Mill Creek district, there are ample retail services, local shops, large retailers, and restaurants in the Strathcona Junction. It is best known for the art performers and summer festivals. 


Argyll is south of Ritchie next to Cornet industrial. Due to the location, lot sizes and proximity to the downtown core, Argyll house prices are higher than the average. It is a predominantly single-family residential area with the vast majority of houses built after World War II between 1946 and 1960.


Avonmore is an irregular quadrilateral-shaped community known for the popular Mill Creek ravine in the south bounded by 75 Street, Argyll Road, and the Mill Creek Ravine. Avonmore is named after Algernon William Yelverton, Viscount Avonmore, an Irish priest and adventurer who stopped in Edmonton en route to an 1887 gold rush expedition in the Klondike.


Hazeldean, south of Ritchie had remained undeveloped until the 1950s when nearly 80 percent of the houses were constructed with the dominant structure type being the bungalow-style house with meticulously landscaped backyards. Today, a few of these south Edmonton homes for sale have now been replaced with newer, larger, and more modern properties with luxury house prices.

Fulton Place is another high-demand community near Capilano and Gold Bar. It is named for the creek which runs through the ravine on its west boundary. Fulton Place is best known for scenic views from vantage points on Fulton Drive, the Hardisty Fitness Leisure Centre, and Michael Cameron Arena.


Gold Bar Mill Creek homes are highlighted by the beautiful views of Goldstick Park in the Capilano area. Many Gold Bar houses are still bungalows constructed in the nineteen-sixties. Investing here has always been a smart investment with a reputation for long-term tenants and owner-occupied properties.


Terrace Heights is a desirable place to live near Capilano and Mill Creek. Land in Terrace Heights was once held by Dr. McLeod, who was a Hudson Bay Company employee, turned sawmill operator. It takes its name from a small former subdivision.


Bonnie Doon is a historic part of Edmonton's history located between Idylwylde and Strathearn. In 1913, an extension of a streetcar line made real estate development in Bonnie Doon more attractive. This eastern south community takes its name from the Scottish for a rolling countryside. Bonnie Doon homes for sale were constructed by some of the highest qualified builders in Alberta and house prices reach into the millions.


Cloverdale, south of Riverdale is situated along the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River in the heart of the Bonnie Doon area. House prices in Cloverdale can be very expensive due to its prime real estate location, minutes from the University.

Due to the location, most Strathearn real estate listings are now replaced with commercial real estate, apartment condos, and new infill and luxury properties. The original houses in Strathearn were constructed in the 1940s and 1950s.
