Houses in Blackburne

Most Blackburne homes for sale will be built prior to our last real estate boom and offer front attached garages and neighboring properties. Similar to Blackmud Creek, many Blackburne houses back onto one of the cities most popular ravines and feature private backyard settings. The most common type of property is the single-family detached house which accounts for seventy percent of these Heritage Valley real estate listings. This far southwest Edmonton community provides close proximity to outdoor recreation, several major highways, Blackburn Creek Park and plenty of shopping in South Common.

The Blackburne community was an annex to the City of Edmonton in 1982. The name stems from the "Black" in Blackmud Creek, and the old English word "burne", which means river or stream, known for its outstanding natural beauty. To the south lies the Bearspaw neighbourhood and to the east, past Calgary Trail, lies the Richford neighbourhood. Most of the real estate development began in 1990. Blackburne is known for having predominantly detached houses which account for about 70% of all residential dwellings. Duplexes are also quite common here, making up 14% of all residential homes. Townhouses and apartment condos make up the remaining 16% of dwellings.
